Glasskon installs two Forel IG production lines |

2021-12-11 02:16:53 By : Mr. Willy Chen

Glasskon is one of the most outstanding and fastest-growing companies in the Polish glass business. It was established in the 1980s and focuses on glass processing, mainly producing hollow glass units. Today, Glasskon has two production plants in Palubice (the first) and Grodzisk Mazowiecki (completed two years ago), with approximately 200 employees, providing the glass market with superior quality residential and commercial products.

In order to increase productivity and provide customers with better products, Glasskon installed Forel's two specially dedicated insulating glass production lines in 2019. The first is called the residential IG production line, dedicated to the production of double and triple glass units up to 2.500 mm x 4.000 mm, ensuring perfect results and high productivity to meet the most common residential market needs.

The second is the high-tech giant IG production line, which represents the top product in the Forel insulating glass manufacturing series: the machine is designed to successfully manage multiple requirements and provide the highest flexibility. This is a complete solution, specially developed for glass windows that need to be competitive to the different requirements of insulating glass units.

The production line used by Glasskon, due to its selection of options and functions, fully meets the requirements for dimensions (maximum size, load capacity of 400 kg/line meter), gaskets (it can handle traditional rigid gaskets or add specific applicators, flexible gaskets) Sheet, standard or T-shaped), curvature control (it can handle incompletely flat panes), offset (up to 100 mm on the front and underside, and up to 300 mm on the back and upper side), and chambers (up to 3 A four-layer glass).

We asked Mr. Wojciech Gwadera, Managing Director of Glasskon to introduce his company organization, goals and future projects to us.

Mr. Gwadera, what is GLASSKON today? What are its main products?

Glasskon currently consists of two production plants. The main activity of these factories is processing flat glass for the well-known construction industry.

The first factory in Palubice was opened eight years ago in its current form, providing customers with IG devices and tempered glass.

In 2019, our new branch in Grodzisk Mazowiecki started production. We think it is time to expand and apply innovative technology and process solutions.

Glasskon Palubice mainly focuses on providing services to companies that produce PVC joinery products. On the other hand, the plant in Grodzisk Mazowiecki is capable of processing large-size glass (3210 x 6000 mm), mainly serving investment customers and aluminum joinery manufacturers. We are also gradually establishing a network of foreign consignees and customers.

Glasskon is a team of about 200 people who are responsible for providing the highest quality insulating glass, structural glass, tempered glass, and ESG / VSG glass to a wide range of customers in the B2B and B2C fields.

Two years ago, you invested in a new factory in the Warsaw area. What is the goal of this new website and how do you plan to achieve it?

The investment in Grodzisk Mazowiecki is a natural result of the company's development and production growth.

Our goal is to provide our customers with comprehensive services in the field of architectural glass and interior glass products to fill the gap in the market.

The Polish market is currently dominated by large companies, and I would even say company companies. Compared with them, small producers have so far been an insufficient choice. Glasskon has created a brand that fills a gap in the market, allowing customers to realize ambitious assumptions in an atmosphere of partnership and good cooperation.

Glasskon Grodzisk Mazowiecki surpasses standard IG devices and tempered glass. The investment in modern equipment for large-size glass processing includes advanced edge processing lines, laminating lines and autoclaves.

The selected strategy allows us to handle complex production orders of non-standard sizes. The design of the entire machinery park allows us to cut, process, temper, laminate and join large-size glass.

Therefore, it is one of the few well-equipped production plants in Poland. The production organization is very flexible, and the size and type of glass used are not the main restrictions.

From a logistics point of view, another advantage is the location of the factory, which allows our products to be delivered efficiently and on time almost anywhere in Poland.

You have installed two new IG production lines from Forel: a "residential" production line capable of handling IG units up to 4.000 x 2.500 mm, and a "high-tech" production line that can also assemble huge size units. Currently, you can manage many different requirements and orders, and also provide the largest IG size in Poland currently. In addition, we know that you have invested in human resources and hired people with strong skills and experience in glass processing. How does this strategy work?

As I have already emphasized, Glasskon's goal is to provide comprehensive customer service and the highest quality products that are sufficient to meet market expectations.

Glasskon Pałubice and Glasskon Grodzisk Mazowiecki cooperate and complement each other to provide our customers with tailor-made solutions.

Implementing new investments in hypothetical dimensions allows us to expand the range of solutions provided so far, thereby providing us with greater production flexibility and freedom of action. This strategy directly translates to an increase in the customer portfolio.

Today, we have successfully implemented all projects covering standard and structural architectural glass windows.

What do you think of your investment in Forel machinery?

Equipping with a high-quality insulating glass production line like Forel is essential for optimizing the production process. The choice of two-dimensional options, the possibility of using two types of sealants, or the automatic processing of stepped glass, facilitates production planning and allows us to meet new challenges, especially in the context of giant size and structured glass.

You are clearly improving your competitiveness in the market: what are your plans for the future?

Our plan is the result of internal development and an effective response to changing market demands. They include continuous improvement, focusing on high-quality products and satisfying our customers.

The Covid-19 emergency is changing many aspects of our lives and businesses. In your opinion, how will the Polish market develop in the future?

The dynamic changes we have experienced recently prove that even the most elaborate plans can be simply reversed.

At present, we believe that the industry has not experienced a significant slowdown, and we hope that the situation in the industries most affected by COVID-19 will also stabilize.

As a company focused on diversifying production and significantly expanding our existing capabilities, I would say that we look forward to the future with reasonable caution, but hope so.
